To become an x-ray technician, you’ll need to attend a college or university for additional education. The best way to do this is to attend an Associate degree program, such as the one offered through Cambridge. Our program takes approximately 2 years to complete from start to finish.
You’ll also need to perform hands-on training during your time at school through a clinical externship. This will help you further enhance your skills and give you confidence for your career.
After you complete an Associate degree program, you’ll need to take and pass the ARRT exam to become a certified x-ray tech. Although not required, it’s a great way to showcase your skills to future employers. After you receive your certification, you’ll be ready for entry-level employment.
The subject matter involved in an x-ray technician program can be challenging. You’ll need a firm understanding of the human body and how to use imaging equipment. During your program, you’ll dive deep into topics such as:
- Medical terminology
- Radiologic science
- Image production
- Radiographic physics
- Anatomy and physiology
If this sounds difficult, rest assured that our team is here to help you succeed. Although this program will take dedication, we’ll provide the encouragement you need to make it through. We’ll also provide study assistance to help you ace your exams.
Each of our instructors is skilled in their field. This means they’ll be able to help you understand the technical material, so you can feel confident in your abilities.
