Navigating your IT Cyber Security Learning Journey

Cyber security is a rapidly growing career field due to the increased number of cyber-attacks that have been happening over the past few years.  Most, if not, all organizations including those in the healthcare industry rely upon technology to get work done. When an attack happens, systems can become inaccessible bringing all productivity to a halt, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive information and putting the lives and safely of people at risk.  Most professionals including medical professionals have not received any specialized training to handle these kinds of attacks so they need to rely on trained cyber security professionals to help mitigate risks and prevent future attacks.

The cyber security program you wish to pursue will depend on your interests and potentially on your background.  Cyber security jobs generally require a strong background in computer skills especially in the areas of network administration, network security and databases.  Other skills that organizations will be looking for include but are not limited to application security, software development, risk assessment, penetration testing and especially creativity.

One way to obtain these skills is to enter into an educational program specifically focused on making sure you get experience in these skills as well as other cyber security related skills.  Luckily, Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology offers three different options when it comes to cyber and network security.

The Cyber and Network Security Diploma/Certificate program is designed to equip students with specialized knowledge in cyber and network security, utilizing risk assessments and digital forensics to ensure data security.  The curriculum will empower students to implement strong network security measures through comprehensive IT policies and practices.  Students will also learn about the role of an IT security specialist, explore ways to ensure compliance and maintain operational security and learn ways to conduct ethical hacking.  Students will receive a well-rounded experience that prepares them for work in healthcare IT settings.

The Cyber and Network Security Associate of Science Degree offers the skills training to prepare students for a variety of entry level positions or to enter into an additional training program to prepare for a more specialized role in IT or business including health related business.  With a focus on risk assessment and digital forensics, this program teaches software analysis techniques and networking strategies that are critical in preventing, detecting and resolving cyber-attacks.  This program is intended to prepare students for future certifications and includes, along with specific cyber security content, courses in communication, leadership, human relations and efficient work practices.

The Cyber and Network Security Bachelor of Science Degree takes students on a deeper dive into the world of cyber security with an increased focus on how to best safeguard networks and data.  This program builds upon the Associates degree and prepares students for more specialized entry level roles along with additional certifications such as Systems Security Certified Practitioner, Certified Ethical Hacker, CompTIA Security+ and other healthcare IT-specific exams.

All three of these programs are 100% online and can be completed from anywhere.  To find out more about these programs at Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology and to get your cyber security education journey started give us a call at 877-206-4279 or send us a message.  We look forward to hearing from you!
