The patient care technician certification program is designed to prepare students for employment as entry level advanced cross-trained nursing assistants (Patient Care Technicians).  This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills expanding the traditional role of the nursing assistant for acute and long term care settings.

This dynamic medical course is comprised of a sequence of instruction that includes a health science core, seven (7) career completion points, and one (1) program option. The Health Science Core offers foundational theory students will need to develop the higher order patient care priorities. Students study law and ethics, medical terminology, privacy laws and patient rights, among a myriad of other critical components. The seven occupational completion points are: Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Aide, Allied Health Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, and Patient Care Technician.

Graduates are eligible to take the Certified Patient Care Technician exam through NCCT (not a state requirement). Students develop skills in human venipuncture and capillary sticks, as well as phlebotomy procedures through hands on training.

Upon completion of our medical school classes, graduates can work in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, geriatric centers, home health agencies and other patient care settings.
