The mission statement of the Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology’s Health Information Technology program is to provide students with entry-level skills required to obtain employment in the health care field and to provide students with transferable knowledge and skills needed to improve healthcare outcomes within the community.

Cambridge’s Associate in Health Information Technology program gives students the skills necessary to enter the field of health IT. Our program includes 75 weeks of study, completely online.
More About the Health Information Technology Program
To enter the field as a health information technologist, you’ll need to know how to analyze patient information and data and accurately enter it into records and systems. Our Associate in Health Information Technology (HIT) program teaches you how to record medical information, bill and code, protect critical data and more. Our Health Information Technology Program is programmatically accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). As a graduate of our HIT Program you will be able to sit for the AHIMA Registered Health Information (RHIT) exam.
What You’ll Learn
The Health Information Technology program includes studies covering many different topics relating to health IT.
Health Data Content and Structure
During your program, you’ll learn the systems and processes required for collecting, maintaining and using patient health information, including registries, forms and health records. You’ll also learn how to analyze content stored inside health records and the importance of its accuracy.
Medical Terminology & Critical Anatomy
Your studies will include the basics of medical terminology as well as an in-depth look at the body’s anatomy. This will help you understand patient medical conditions and diagnoses for proper recording into the patient’s record. You’ll also have a virtual lab practicum, allowing you to practice what you’ve learned in real-time.
ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS
To properly enter codes for recording and insurance purposes, you’ll need to understand ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding procedures. Our associate degree program includes in-depth studies in both as well as an intermediate coding course to take your training to the next level.
Health Information Systems
You’ll learn everything you need to know about electronic medical records (EMRs) as well as other critical health information systems. You’ll discover the most common information systems used by organizations throughout the US and gain an understanding of how to protect patient data inside those systems.
