In Miami, there are many medical career opportunities. One of those opportunities is a career in radiation therapy.

Why Should You Become a Radiation Therapist in Miami?

Radiation therapy is a booming field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, radiation therapy careers are expected to grow by 7% between now and 2029, much faster than average. This isn’t the only benefit of becoming a radiation therapist. Here are five others:

  1. Ability to support patients through a trying time: Radiation therapists support cancer patients through treatment. It’s a trying and emotional time where quality care and support are critical for treatment success. You’ll have the opportunity to provide that care, thus making a huge impact on many patients and their families.
  2. Steady work schedule: Many radiation therapists work steady schedules each week. For example, in a clinic setting, you may work the typical 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. This means you’ll have stability in how you work.
  3. Career advancement opportunities: As you gain job experience, you’ll have the opportunity to increase your salary and benefits. Plus, there are other advancement opportunities available. For example, you could continue your education and become an oncologist, or a doctor specializing in cancer care. You could also become a dosimetrist who specializes in developing cancer treatment plans.
  4. Many choices of where to work: In Miami, you have many places of employment to choose from. Clinics, doctor’s offices, long-term care facilities and hospitals hire radiation therapists for patient care, and Miami offers it all.
  5. Flexibility: You can often choose a flexible work schedule as a radiation therapist. For example, if you need to be off during the day, you could choose to work the nightshift if your employer offers it. You may also be able to choose to work on the weekends if you need time off during the week.
How to Become a Radiation Therapist
