Licensed Practical Nurse Degree and Career Options

A group if licensed practical nursing students are gathered at a table in a nursing school

A career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) can be very rewarding. LPNs are the eyes and ears of their patients, monitoring them for more than just their vitals, but being attentive to their needs as a whole patient. Critical thinking and attention to detail are key skills as you report aspects of your patient’s care and status to the health care team. LPNs build rapport with their patients, being the one they rely on in difficult times in their illness and the one to offer encouragement as they are on the road to recovery.

How Cambridge Can Help

Working under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors, LPNs work in a variety of settings including hospitals, doctor’s offices, residential care facilities and home health care. To become an LPN, you must complete a state-approved educational program like the one offered at Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology. You will study nursing fundamentals, anatomy and physiology and pharmacology and gain clinical experience in a supervised setting. Upon completion of your program, you must pass the NCLEX-PN exam to receive your license. Included in your Cambridge program is preparation for the exam.
