On June 6, 2025, Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology held an inaugural pinning ceremony for the first cohort of 28 students graduating with an Associate of Science in Nursing. The pinning ceremony was held prior to their graduation ceremony that evening at the Gas South Convention Center in Duluth, GA. These students made up the first class of nursing students at the college campus. They started their 18-month program in 2023. Graduating this first class of nursing students was especially exciting for the college community.
The pinning ceremony is a tradition for the nursing profession going back to Florence Nightingale in the 1860’s. Upon receiving her own honor of the Red Cross of St. George, she extended the honor to her own students graduating from the Nightingale School of Nursing in London, by pinning them with a medal of excellence. The symbolic ceremony continues today with soon to be nurses receiving their pin prior to their graduation ceremony. They are “pinned” by someone significant in their life or academic journey.
The ASN graduates are from two program tracks offered by Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology. The 75-week bridge program is for those who are an LPN, Paramedic or Respiratory Therapist. The 90-week traditional program is for students without prior college credits. The Atlanta campus offers cutting edge technology in the simulation labs giving students hands on experience as they prepare for clinical rotations in hospitals, doctor’s offices and other healthcare settings. Cambridge College offers students the education, training and mentorship necessary to complete their degree and be ready for licensure examinations.
The evening of the pinning ceremony, the ASN students joined the larger Cambridge College community for the graduation ceremony of students from 12 different degree programs. Graduates and their families were able to celebrate their accomplishments and degrees with the College President and academic faculty of the college.
Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology also offers Bachelor and Master of Science Programs in Nursing. Classes are enrolling now for the fall. For more information, call 877-206-4279 or visit cambridgehealth.edu/contact.
