Computer networking is a wide-open field full of career opportunities. Indeed, every business in every industry requires computer networking professionals to help protect, create and troubleshoot their critical connections.
If you’re interested in a career in computer networking, you might be wondering how much education you’ll need to make it happen. The good news is, you don’t need a Bachelor’s degree to start your career.
At Cambridge, we offer two Computer Networking programs you can choose from. These include our Certificate program and our Associate degree program.
Our Computer Networking certificate program is a 60-week long program designed to help you jumpstart your networking career. During this program, you’ll learn the basics of computer networking, including installing, configuring and troubleshooting computer networks.
Most of the career options you can obtain with a networking certificate are entry-level positions. Starting with a certificate and then finding a job is a great way to gain hands-on experience in the field for later career advancement.
Some of the jobs you may be able to secure with a certificate include:
- Desktop Support Technician
- Helpdesk Technician
- Customer Support Technician
Our Associate of Science in Computer Networking program is a two-year program designed to be a deeper dive into computer networking. Not only will you learn the basics, but you’ll also learn additional material such as:
- Fundamental networking concepts
- Installation of printers, cabling and hardware
- Computer networking leadership skills
- Safe networking practices
- And more!
With an Associate degree, you’ll be eligible for various entry-level positions in computer networking. Due to the extended learning you’ll receive through this program, you may be able to secure a slightly more advanced position than you would with a certificate.
Some of the career opportunities include:
- Network Technician
- Computer Repair Technician
- Junior Network Administrator
- Wireless Network Specialist
No matter which education path you choose, both the Computer Networking Certificate and the Associate program will prepare you to obtain the industry certifications you need for career success, including:
- CompTIA A+
