Patient Care Tech Program

Medical Assistant or CNA

What to Expect After Completing a Patient Care Technician Program

As a patient care technician, you’ll get to spend your days assisting nurses and other medical providers with patient care. If you’re ready to become a PCT, your first step is attending a Patient Care Technician program. Yet, what happens after you receive your diploma?

Consider Obtaining Additional Patient Care Technician Certification

After graduation, you’ll be eligible to take the Certified Patient Care Technician exam offered through the NHA for certification. For many employers, this isn’t a requirement for employment. Yet, passing the exam will help showcase your skills and give you an edge when applying for new positions. Students will be able to take the CNA exam at all campuses except Atlanta.

Finding a New Job as a Patient Care Technician

With a certification in hand, it’s time to find the perfect new job. First, update your resumé with your new diploma and any certification obtained. Next, decide where you would like to work. For example, would you like to work in a hospital? Clinic? Doctor’s office? In the medical field, the opportunities are virtually endless.

Once you understand your career goals, you can then start the application process. Search online job boards such as Indeed and Monster for current openings. Or, visit the websites of the facilities you’re interested in. You can even call the Human Resources department of the facilities directly.

  • Preparing patients for surgical procedures
  • Providing support to patient families
