• Health Data Content and StructureDuring your program, you’ll learn the systems and processes required for collecting, maintaining and using patient health information, including registries, forms and health records. You’ll also learn how to analyze content stored inside health records and the importance of its accuracy.
• Medical Terminology & Critical AnatomyYour studies will include the basics of medical terminology as well as an in-depth look at the body’s anatomy. This will help you understand patient medical conditions and diagnoses for proper recording into the patient’s record. You’ll also have a virtual lab practicum, allowing you to practice what you’ve learned in real-time.
• ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCSTo properly enter codes for recording and insurance purposes, you’ll need to understand ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding procedures. Our associate degree program includes in-depth studies in both as well as an intermediate coding course to take your training to the next level.
• Health Information SystemsYou’ll learn everything you need to know about electronic medical records (EMRs) as well as other critical health information systems. You’ll discover the most common information systems used by organizations throughout the US and gain an understanding of how to protect patient data inside those systems.
