What Is a Data Management Degree?

All organizations in every industry use data to inform decisions, learn about their customers and so much more. However, lists of numbers and facts don’t mean anything at all. It’s the insights gathered from the data that give meaning. Data management professionals are responsible for wrangling, managing and making sense of company data for a wide range of purposes.

If you wish to join the data management field, there are some steps you’ll need to take. First, you’ll need in-depth training which you can receive by attending a data management program. There are two types of data management degrees: the Associate’s degree and the Bachelor’s degree.

Associate of Science in Data & Project Management

An Associate’s program is typically a two-year program that gives you the training required to obtain an entry-level position in data management. Programs may include both in-classroom and online study or they may be 100% online.

A Bachelor’s program typically takes two years to complete once you obtain your Associate’s degree or four years total. This program is a deep dive into data and analytics, giving you the knowledge you need for more advanced career paths.
