As a medical assistant, you’ll spend your days supporting patients through their medical care. It’s a rewarding career that many students can’t wait to dive into.
Whether you’re ready to start your Medical Assistant program or your program is coming to a close, there are many things you can expect upon completing your program.
Medical Assistant Program Completion: It’s Time for Certification
The first thing you’ll want to do after you complete your program is become certified. Certification isn’t required in all states or for all employers. Yet, it’s the only way to solidify your skills in the field and show your knowledge to potential employers. It can also help you stand out from the crowd of applicants when finding your new job.
Students who complete the Medical Assistant program at Cambridge are eligible to sit for the RMA, CMA and NCCT national registry certification exams. You’re also eligible to sit for the Phlebotomy and EKG NCCT certification exams.
To obtain certification, you’ll complete an exam application and may also pay an exam entrance fee, depending on the testing source. After you take your test, you’ll be notified of your results soon after. If you pass (and you will), you’ll be considered a Certified Medical Assistant.
