Medical assistants are in high demand across Atlanta. It’s the perfect place to start your new career. Are you about to finish your Medical Assistant program? If so, congratulations! It’s time to start preparing for what comes next. What can you expect after graduation?
You’ll Get Certified as a Medical Assistant
If you want to make the most of your newfound medical knowledge, the first step you’ll take after graduation is to become certified. Certification isn’t a requirement for some employers and most states don’t require it either. Yet, it’s a great way to show off your skills and prepare yourself for employment.
Cambridge’s Medical Assistant program has been developed with certification in mind. Students who complete our program are eligible to sit for the exams resulting in several certifications, including:
- EKG NCCT
After you choose which certification is right for you, you’ll then simply apply for the exam and wait until the organization verifies your application. In some cases, you’ll need to pay a test fee. Then, you can take and pass the exam to become certified.
You’ll Obtain the Perfect New Job as a Medical Assistant in Atlanta
The next step is the one you’ve been working so hard for: finding a new job. You have many decisions to make during this step, including:
- Where do you want to work? There are virtually endless options when deciding where you want to work. For example, you may wish to work at a hospital in the Emergency Department or with long-term care patients in therapy centers or nursing homes. As a medical assistant, the choice is yours.
- Who do you want to work with? You must also decide what patients you want to work with. For example, do you want to work with pediatric patients or those of older age? Would you enjoy working with patients going through cancer? Or do you want to help patients learn how to bathe and clothe themselves after an illness? There are many opportunities in the medical field.
- How will you find open positions? You can call local healthcare facilities to discuss open positions. Or, try searching online job boards, including Indeed and LinkedIn. You can also reach out to Cambridge for help. We can support you in finding a new job through our Career Services department.
