Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology’s Atlanta, Georgia Campus Radiologic Technology Program: “From Concept to Commencement: Programmatic Development and Student Success”
During the summer of 2014, Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology had envisioned a Radiologic Technology program to provide the students in Atlanta and the surrounding communities the opportunity to learn and gain clinical practice in the medical imaging profession. The program was refined and guided by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Radiography Curriculum assuring that our students learn the most up-to-date radiographic procedures and practices in an effort to prepare them for their professional career.
In the fall of 2014, our student cohort started the 24-month radiography program, beginning with classroom instruction and later transitioning into the clinical education setting. Students studied patient care, radiation biology and protection, equipment operation and maintenance, image production and evaluation, and radiographic procedures. They were able to take the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom and apply these in the laboratory and clinical settings. Our students have each performed 1,560 hours of clinical experience preparing them to transition into the professional healthcare workforce when they graduate.
September 10, 2016 was an exciting day for our students and Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology. The student cohort of the Radiologic Technology program participated in the Commencement Ceremony. Students completing our program qualify to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination in radiography. The first cohort of the Radiologic Technology program has posted a 100% first-attempt pass rate on the ARRT certification exam and secured employment in the medical imaging profession as a registered technologist.
It is rewarding to watch our students personal and professional growth. Cambridge College of Healthcare and Technology provides the high-performing faculty and staff, campus resources, and personalized learning environment necessary for today’s student to be successful in their educational pursuits. Now that our first cohort has graduated, the standard of excellence has been established and we look forward to the next commencement ceremony.
Congratulations and welcome to the medical imaging profession!
