What Cambridge College Program Is Right for You?

What Cambridge College Program Is Right for You?

Healthcare or technology? It’s a question you must answer before selecting a Cambridge program. Fortunately, we offer a wide range of programs to choose from, whether you want healthcare, technology, or a mix of both. The questions below will help you gain an understanding of what career path might be the most fulfilling for you.

Do You Want to Work With Patients?

If you want to work face-to-face with patients requiring medical care, there are many career options for you to choose from.

Do You Want to Deliver Patient Care?

If you want to deliver direct patient care, consider these options:

  • Practical nursing: As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), you’ll support doctors and other professionals in patient care, from taking vitals to administering injections.
  • Nursing assistant: As a nursing assistant, you’ll support patients throughout their medical care. For example, you might assist with toileting, feeding, and other tasks that help patients recover from medical conditions or disease.
  • Medical assistant: Under the supervision of physicians, medical assistants prep patients for exams, code and bill insurance procedures and provide medical team support.
  • Medical laboratory technician: Medical lab technicians test and analyze blood, tissues, and substances to support medical professionals with condition diagnosis and treatment.
Does Blood Make You Squeamish?

Some students have an understandable aversion to blood and other bodily fluids, yet still wish to take part in patient care. If this is you, you might consider these options:

  • Occupational therapy assistant: Occupational therapy assistants work with patients of all ages. They assist patients with disabilities by teaching them how to function independently in their homes and communities.
  • Physical therapy assistant: Physical therapy assistants help patients improve their health and wellbeing through exercise and massage.
  • Radiation therapy: Radiation therapists deliver life-saving radiation therapy to patients with cancer using specialized medical machines and equipment.
  • Diagnostic medical sonography: As a diagnostic medical sonographer, you’ll work with patients by using sonography machines to examine internal anatomy. This helps diagnose various medical conditions as well as visualize pregnancy.
  • Radiologic technology: Radiologic technologists administer, analyze, and record x-ray images to help diagnose medical conditions and injuries.
Do You Want to Focus On Technology?

Do you wish to focus on technology instead of patient care? We have programs for you too, including:

  • Computer Networking: As a computer networker, you would work to install, configure, and troubleshoot business apps, networks and equipment.
  • Cyber & Network Security: As a cyber security professional, you’ll work to protect the critical networks and data organizations use to conduct business.
  • Data and Project Management: Through this program, you can enter the data science field or the project management field. You can either learn to analyze data on behalf of an organization or learn how to manage critical business projects.
  • Health Information Technology: Health information technologists analyze patient information and ensure medical record accuracy. They also bill and code for insurance purposes.
How Long Do You Want to Study?

While some students want to enter their careers fast, others wish to take their time as they study. There’s an option for everyone here.

Do You Want to Start Your Career in a Year?

Our certificate and diploma programs can be completed in a matter of weeks to months. For example, the Phlebotomy Technician program takes 11 weeks to complete while the Data & Project Management program takes approximately 48 weeks, or just under a year to complete. Other program options include:

Do You Want to Take the Associate Degree Route?

Our Associate programs take approximately two years to complete from start to finish. Virtually all of our healthcare and tech-based programs are available for two-year study, except for IV Therapy Infusion, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, and Medical Coding and Billing.

During these programs, you’ll build a foundation with general education courses as well as a deeper study into your chosen field.

Where Do You Want to Work?

Your choice of a workplace is critical to selecting a career option. For example, if you wish to work in a hospital, any of our medical programs would be a great choice. Where else can you work with a program from Cambridge?

  • Medical offices: In a medical office, you can work as a nurse, occupational therapy or physical therapy assistant, radiation therapist, phlebotomy technician, or even a medical coder and biller.
  • Specialty clinics: Do you want to specialize in child medical care? You could become a nurse, or another medical team member focused on pediatric care. Want to specialize in cancer treatment? Become a radiation therapist who works at a cancer facility. The options for specialization are endless.
  • Businesses: If you want to support a business in its growth, consider a tech-based career. For example, you can become a computer networking, security professional, data analyst or project manager.
