How Long Does It Take to Become a Medical Lab Technician?
To become a medical lab technician, you’ll need to first obtain an Associate of Science degree. This can take approximately 2 years to complete from start to finish. At Cambridge, our program takes 75 weeks of study and includes partial online study.
After you obtain your degree, you’ll need to obtain certification through the American Medical Technologists Association. Although not necessarily a requirement, we recommend our students get certified to help them stand out during their job search.
With a certification in hand, you’re officially ready for entry-level employment in the field. Depending on where you live and where you choose to work, the job search may take some time. Be patient and remember that your time will come soon.
