Medical Billing and Coding specialist are an important member of a patient-centered team consisting of physicians, nurses and other health professionals.

Under the direct supervision of physicians or medical administrators, medical record administrators, health information technicians, they are generally responsible for the following duties: Microsoft Office software, Computerized practice management including medical billing software and medical record management software, Electronic health record administration, Systems management, Laws and codes of healthcare privacy, Electronic library and archival requirements, HIPPA Requirements and Medical Record Privacy law.

The ideal medical billing and coding specialist candidate is empathetic, a strong listener and oral communicator, detailed and organized. A certain level of manual dexterity is also important.
